What is a lymphangioma?
Lymphangiomas are benign malformations of the lymphatic vessels. They appear as soft, spongy swellings, most commonly in the neck or armpit. Some are present at birth; others become noticeable as the child grows.
When surgery is needed
Small asymptomatic lymphangiomas may be observed. Surgery is considered when the lesion is large, growing, causing breathing or feeding difficulty, recurrently infected, or affecting appearance and function.
